France is waking up. This is good news for the climate, and good news for the world.

President Emmanuel Macron announced during his speech this Tuesday the construction of new nuclear reactors in the coming years.

This announcement is important. The signal is strong. Including for international observers who were waiting for France to decide to use all proven low-carbon energies in order to effectively progress towards phasing out fossil fuels.

The battle for the climate has only just begun.

We need Europe. Securing a reliable supply of carbon-free energy is a transnational issue. The energy problems in neighbouring countries will also have repercussions on France.

We need everyone.

At the national level, it is now necessary to revise the Multiannual Energy Programming (PPE), and to break the lock of the 63 GW nuclear installed imposed by the Energy transition law (LTECV).
